1. Know Why You Want Them
I could talk about why you want, no, why you need Nanoleaf for a long while. The easy answer is that they're fun! You can instantly set the mood with animated, colored lighting. You can sync them with music and TV shows. They look slick as hell since you can arrange them in whatever shapes you want.

2. Know What's in the Box
What are you actually getting for your very smart purchase? Here's a quick run-down.

4. Get Familiar with the App
The app is really good! This is the main way to change the lights. It has five sections:
- Dashboard: You can see all of your Nanoleaf lights organized by room. A quick toggle turns them all on or off, or you can tap through to change their color and animation.
- Discover: Nanoleaf has a whole online community sharing light animation recipes. You can search through them and load them onto your lights.
- Explore: Dig deeper into Nanoleaf features and other product lines.
- Schedules: You can automate Nanoleaf lights to turn off or on at any time of the week.
- More: All of the extras like your managing your Nanoleaf account, backing up light settings to the cloud, and so on.
Nanoleaf works on both Android and iPhone. It also works with Google Assistant and Siri, so if you want to just tell your lights to turn on, you don't even have to go fiddling through the app. These things fit right in with whatever other smart home devices you have.
